ATTENTION CANBERRA ANIMATORS!

UPDATE (28.11.06)
Due to a high volume of last minute requests we have decided to extend the deadline of the competition to January 10th 2007 with the announcement of winners on January 30th 2007.

In the interest of keeping a level playing field, and although the entries received thus far have been of an exceptional quality, entrants who have already submitted and feel that with more time they could improve their chances of winning are permitted to further develop their work and resubmit it by the new deadline.

Ever wanted to make an animated music video?

MEATBEE are a band who like to get out and about and meet local artists from other fields. In their 6 year history the band have collaborated with Canberran filmmakers, photographers, mime artists, musicians, clowns and fire twirlers just to name a few.

MEATBEE believe that art is an ongoing conversation between different people who have different ways of viewing the world. MEATBEE also believe that there is some great talent in the ACT and that talent should be shared with the rest of the world.

MEATBEE have been playing to audiences up and down the East Coast of Australia and recently the band have been in the studio putting together an EP. Now the band is seeking to find someone with a unique vision to come on board and give a visual perspective to the sound.

This is where you come in!

MEATBEE's EP "Breathing Under Water" is slated for release in January 2007 with a special edition DVD extra. MEATBEE are endeavouring to make the release a showcase for Canberra artists.

The band are working with EoR Media in Kingston to develop a live action film clip for the first single from the EP. MEATBEE are also working with local documentarian and photographer Chris Holly on a short behind-the-scenes look at a Canberra band. There is also a DJ-Remix competition open to Canberra electronic artists (see here). The fourth ingredient is where you come in!

We want you to come up with a unique animation to accompany the song 'Just For Me' on the DVD. There is no brief for this project. We want you to use your imagination, interpret the song any way you see fit, and come up with an animated work that reflects you as an artist. Sometimes the best ideas flourish in the spaces between people, so we’re giving you heaps of room to move. Go crazy!

What’s in it for you? Well, there’s a Schiavello 17 inch LCD monitor
(recommended retail price $1,500) and a cash prize of $500 to the animator/s of the winning entry, plus a possibility that your work will be included on a nationally distributed release and be broadcast on national television.

Sound good to you? Get together with mates or fly solo if you like and put together an animated clip (using any style of animation) for the song “Just for me”, fill in the entry form, read and sign the terms and conditions, then send your entry into us!

Deadline for Submissions is 29th November 2006, winner to be announced on 1st December.

We look forward to working with you!
